Here’s a sentence completion worksheet with lots of common expressions and structures that come up in the CAE use of English paper. Use of English Revision Complete the sentences with 1 word:

  1. Hi Tim! Reading your blog has been both super useful and inspirational, thanks so much for sharing all these great ideas and worksheets. I have been teaching CAE groups for some time now but I have never actually created any grammar exercises myself. Do you use any existing grammar resources / reference books?

    1. Hi, thanks for the comment. I teach three different CAE groups a week so it gives me the opportunity to fine tune the lesson plans. We also use a textbook, at the moment we use Spotlight on CAE and Ready for CAE, but I find them quite dry so try to find another angle for the grammar and methods for revising the vocab and structures as often as possible. I’ve also got a copy of Cambridge Advanced Grammar in use, which is useful, as well as another on collocations which is great for improving students’ writing. I hope this has been helpful.
